“This effort by Assam Rifles is expected to significantly improve access to digital resources, foster modern learning practices, and help bridge the technology gap faced by educational institutions in far-flung regions,” the report read.
In another event, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Manipur, inaugurated a partnership in drone technology through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony at Mantripukhri on the outskirts of Imphal.
The event was attended by senior officials from both institutions, including Maj. Gen. Ravroop Singh, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), and the Director of IIIT Manipur.
On the occasion, both dignitaries shared insights on the potential of drone systems in modern warfare and emphasised the need for joint efforts to accelerate technology absorption within operational frameworks.
The day also marked the launch of an Advanced Drone Training and Refresher Course tailored for the sentinels of the borders. The programme included hands-on training in drone flight operations, maintenance protocols, and certification aligned with Directorate General of Civil Aviation standards.
The course aims to equip personnel with the skills necessary for surveillance, reconnaissance, and logistics support in dynamic terrains.
The event brought together around 80 participants, comprising defence personnel and IIIT Manipur faculty.
