DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles conducted multiple welfare and awareness activities in Nagaland, including a financial awareness lecture at Kohima Garrison, a scientific beekeeping training programme in Dimapur, and a civic outreach programme at Matikhru village in Meluri district.
A lecture on financial awareness was conducted for troops and families of the Assam Rifles at the Motivational Hall, Kohima Garrison, on March 14.
According to a press release, the session was delivered by a representative from HDFC Bank and aimed at enhancing financial literacy and promoting responsible financial practices among the participants.
During the lecture, various aspects of financial management were discussed, including financial planning, savings, investment awareness, digital banking facilities and measures to prevent online financial fraud. The speaker highlighted the importance of disciplined savings and informed decision-making to ensure long-term financial security for individuals and families.
The interactive session also provided practical guidance on the safe use of digital banking platforms and precautions to be taken while conducting online financial transactions. Participants were encouraged to adopt secure banking practices and remain vigilant against fraudulent activities.

Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles conducted a five-day awareness and scientific beekeeping training for its troops in Dimapur to enhance their knowledge of beekeeping and enable them to further train and motivate local communities residing near their units.
A total of 147 troops from Assam Rifles units attended the training.
The training programme was conducted by expert instructors from the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission, who provided detailed insights into modern and scientific methods of beekeeping.
The sessions covered various aspects such as bee colony management, identification of bee species, maintenance of bee boxes, honey extraction techniques, disease control, and the economic potential of beekeeping.
Troops were also given practical demonstrations on handling bee colonies, maintaining hygienic conditions for honey production, and adopting scientific practices to improve honey yield and quality.
In another initiative, the Assam Rifles Phek Battalion organised a civic outreach programme at Matikhru village in Meluri district under Operation Sadbhavana.
The programme included distribution of solar lights to villagers, followed by a basic health screening and medical check-up camp.
During the event, solar lights were distributed to households of Matikhru village to help address the challenge of limited access to reliable electricity in the area.
