DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles conducted various activities including training programmes, counselling sessions, and cleanliness drives across Nagaland.
In Peren district, the Assam Rifles conducted a one-day training session in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Peren, in Jalukie.
According to a press release, the session focused on the theme “Use of plant genetic resources as ethno-veterinary medicine for management of animal diseases in North East India”.
The programme was conducted for the benefit of local villagers of Peren district with the objective of strengthening traditional and sustainable livestock management practices. The training highlighted the rich repository of indigenous knowledge available in the Northeast region and its relevance in addressing common animal health issues.

Experts from allied institutions shared practical insights on the identification, preparation and application of locally available medicinal plants used in ethno-veterinary medicine. Special focus was laid on sustainable animal healthcare practices, conservation of plant genetic resources and enhancing self-reliance among rural communities.
In Dimapur, the Assam Rifles organised a counselling session for families under the Rubaru initiative. Themed "Me to we – co creating performance”, the session provided a platform for participants to share their concerns and seek guidance on prioritizing mental well-being.
A total of 82 families attended the session. The interactive session with the psychological counsellor offered insights and support for maintaining family harmony and emotional well-being.
Meanwhile, as part of Republic Day 2026 celebrations, the Assam Rifles organised activities on the theme "Vande Mataram" at Akhen and Avangkhu villages. The aim of these activities was to promote patriotism, social responsibility and community engagement.
A cleanliness drive was conducted at Akhen village where personnel and civilians took part in cleaning public areas. A total of 27 villagers participated in the event.
At Avangkhu, activities included group singing of the patriotic song "Vande Mataram" and a screening of a documentary and short film based on the theme. A total of 80 villagers took part in these events along with the jawans.
Additionally, the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on women empowerment at Wonthoi village on Thursday. The initiative aimed at creating awareness among women regarding their rights, social responsibilities and the importance of self-reliance in nation-building.
The lecture focused on key aspects such as the role of women in family and society, access to education, healthcare awareness, financial independence and government schemes meant for women's welfare.
The speakers highlighted the importance of gender equality and underlined the need for collective efforts to ensure a safe, dignified and progressive environment for women. A total of 20 civilians, including women from the village, attended the lecture.
