DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles conducted pre-recruitment training, observed the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, paid homage to fallen soldiers, and organised educational outreach programmes across Nagaland over the past few days.
Kohima: Assam Rifles has been conducting an eight-week pre-recruitment training programme at the battalion headquarters in Kohima since April 13 for aspirants who registered for Agniveer Recruitment.
A total of 27 aspirants, including 23 boys and four girls, are undergoing the training. According to an update, the trainees have been provided accommodation at the battalion headquarters.
The training programme focuses on written examination preparation, physical fitness, and medical requirements, while also including physical training, basic drills, and guidance on recruitment procedures.

Jalukie: In an event held at St. Xavier’s School in Jalukie, the Assam Rifles marked the anniversary of Operation Sindoor by organising a commemorative lecture and a motivational session for the student body on Tuesday.
The programme saw the participation of 220 students. It commenced with a tribute to the soldiers of Operation Sindoor, using presentations and firsthand accounts.
The Assam Rifles also conducted a specialised session focused on the diverse career opportunities available within the Indian Armed Forces. The attendees were provided with a roadmap on how to join the military, receiving detailed briefings on entry schemes such as the National Defence Academy, the Technical Entry Scheme, and the Combined Defence Services.
Changlangshu: The Assam Rifles organised a wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial at COB Changlangshu in Mon to pay homage to nine soldiers of the 23 Assam Rifles and 164 (TA) Naga Regiment who lost their lives in the line of duty on this day in 2015.
The ceremony was attended by 113 Assam Rifles personnel, including village headmen, teachers, and students from nearby schools. Wreaths were laid, a guard of honour was presented, citations were read, and a moment of silence was observed in honour of the fallen soldiers.
Chenloisho: The Assam Rifles conducted a motivational lecture for the students of Primary School in Chenloisho, Mon, as part of its ongoing outreach initiatives.
The session aimed at encouraging young minds to focus on education, discipline, and personal development. In addition, a colour printer was provided to assist in easing administrative tasks and improving educational infrastructure.
