Assam Rifles conducts an expedition, student interaction and volleyball match across Nagaland.
DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted various activities in Kiphire, Chieswema and Chendang Saddle, including the Saramati Adventure Expedition 2026, an interactive session for the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) students and a friendly volleyball match with local youth.
According to an update, Assam Rifles successfully concluded the Saramati Adventure Expedition 2026 in Kiphire, with the team reaching the summit of Mount Saramati, the highest peak in Nagaland, on September 20.
The expedition, undertaken by 30 Assam Rifles, comprised one officer and five other ranks, along with mountaineer Bhukya Yashwanth. It was flagged off at Kiphire on September 18 by the Commandant of the 30 Assam Rifles.
The team reached Thanamir Base Camp on September 18 and commenced the foot trek towards Saramati Base Camp on September 19, traversing the mountain terrain and Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary.
The final ascent was undertaken on September 20, culminating in the summit of Mount Saramati at approximately 3,841 metres above sea level.
At the summit, Bhukya Yashwanth unfurled the Tricolour as part of his “Har Shikhar Par Tiranga” mountaineering mission. The expedition marked another milestone in his endeavour to summit high points across India and carry the national flag to the summits.

The Saramati Adventure Expedition 2026 was also aimed at promoting adventure, physical fitness, youth engagement and camaraderie, while strengthening Assam Rifles' bond with the people of the hills.
Also, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Axis Bank and NIEDO, organised an interactive session at the Captain N Kenguruse, Maha Vir Chakra, Centre of Excellence and Wellness, Chieswema, on Tuesday.
The session was aimed at providing students with guidance and insights while strengthening the ongoing partnership for youth empowerment and holistic development.
Wilfred Barboza, Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility, Axis Bank, and Anvi Vasavada, Deputy Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility, Axis Bank, interacted with NIEDO students, faculty and Assam Rifles personnel.
The interaction focused on education, career development, leadership, discipline and personal growth.
The session provided students with insights, motivation and guidance, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations with confidence, commitment and a strong sense of purpose.
Further, Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match with local youth at Chendang Saddle, Noklak district, on Tuesday, with the aim of promoting camaraderie and strengthening the bond between Assam Rifles and the local community.
One team each comprising local youth and Assam Rifles personnel participated in the match.
