DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles organised the Fit India Freedom Run 6.0 at Jalukie, conducted an awareness lecture on malaria prevention at Mimi village in Kiphire district, celebrated Diwali at Assam Rifles Public School in Phek, and organised a road show and bike rally in Phek town to promote the upcoming 9th edition of the Captain N Kengurüse (Mahavir Chakra) Memorial Football Tournament.
According to an update, the Fit India Freedom Run 6.0 was held at Jalukie on Tuesday under the nationwide Fit India Movement launched by the government of India.
The event saw participation from Assam Rifles personnel and local school students. It aimed to encourage individuals to include regular physical activity in their lives and promote health, discipline, and wellness.
Under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS), the initiative sought to instil the spirit of fitness and national pride across all sections of society.
In another event, the Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on the prevention of malaria for residents of the Indo-Myanmar border village of Mimi in Kiphire district on October 20. The session aimed to educate villagers and community representatives on the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures related to malaria.

Health experts from the Assam Rifles emphasised practical measures such as the use of mosquito nets, cleaning of water storage containers, and early diagnosis.
The Assam Rifles Public School, Phek, celebrated Diwali on October 20 on the theme "Green Diwali safe Diwali". The event saw the participation of 50 students and featured a poem by UKG students, a skit on eco-friendly Diwali, and a dance performance. Students also made and exchanged Diwali greeting cards.
The activities were designed to promote environmental conservation and responsible celebration of the festival.
The Assam Rifles also organised a road show and bike rally in Phek town to promote the upcoming 9th Capt. N Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament. The rally, held in memory of Capt. Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous), aimed to inspire youth through his legacy of courage and leadership during the Kargil War.
The rally, flagged off from Phek town, saw participation from locals and players. The tournament is scheduled from October 22 to November 6 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, with 20 teams from across Nagaland competing for a total prize pool of INR 6.5 lakh.
