DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles battalions organised various civic activities, including sports festivals, medical camps, and wellness sessions across Peren, Tuensang, Kohima, and Chümoukedima districts.
In the Peren district, the Assam Rifles organised a sports festival for the residents of Benreu village. A total of 100 villagers participated in events including wrestling, long jump, high jump and traditional Naga games, according to an update.
In Tuensang, a free medical camp was held at Kejok village, Sangsangyu Block, on November 27. The camp offered free medical check-ups, diagnosis, and treatment. Children received sports equipment, and sanitary pads were distributed to support women’s hygiene.

The medical officer recognised the prevalence of hypertension, abdominal pain, fever and upper respiratory issues as more common amongst the diagnosed patients. Eye and ear check-ups were also conducted for the villagers.
The medical camp culminated with the distribution of requisite medicines, and discussions for the improvement of hygiene and general wellbeing were undertaken with the village council and the school staff.
In a separate event, the Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match with the residents of Avangkhu village to strengthen the bond between the security forces and the local community.
In Kohima district, an advent Christmas celebration was held for students of the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) at the Capt. N Kenguruse Centre of Excellence and Wellness, Chieswema Garrison.
Additionally, a “Rubaru” Mental Wellness Session was organised for the families of personnel at Chieswema and Chümoukedima on November 27. A total of 47 families participated in the programme themed “Mera Wajood, Suno Meri Awaaz”, conducted by psychology counsellor Saloni.
