DIPHU — Khatkhati Police of Karbi Anglong apprehended a youth and seized suspected heroin at the Assam-Nagaland interstate border on April 27.
According to an update, the anti-narcotics operation was carried out around 8 pm at Dudu Colony, Tila Basti, based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of contraband.
A police team laid an ambush near the border and intercepted the suspect while he was entering Assam from Dimapur.

The accused has been identified as Belamsingya Kangpu, a resident of Pessu village in Tuensang district, Nagaland.
During a search, police recovered approximately 8.22 grams of suspected heroin concealed in plastic containers from his person.
Police have taken the accused into custody and registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
Officials said further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages and ascertain whether the accused is part of a larger interstate drug trafficking network.
