Assam government launches foreigner clearance portal

  • DIPHU — The Government of Assam has issued a directive regarding the launch of a new online portal—https://conference.epolclearance.gov.in —developed by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

  • The portal is designed to streamline and expedite the process of obtaining political clearances for foreign nationals intending to participate in various conferences, seminars, workshops, sports events, and other programmes organised by government bodies, autonomous institutions, or private organisations in India. This was stated in press release issued by District Information and Public Relation Officer (DIPRO), Karbi Anglong, on Friday.

  • As per communication from the Foreign Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, the portal is now operational and is to be used for facilitating timely clearances.

  • The Hill Areas Department, Dispur, requested all concerned, including the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), to take necessary action as per the Ministry's guidelines.

  • Officials and organising bodies hosting international participants have been urged to utilise the portal to ensure compliance and smooth conduct of events involving foreign nationals.
