- DIPHU — In a move
to uphold the state's collective sense of duty, solidarity and national spirit,
Governor of Assam has issued an executive order directing all departments and
district administrations to implement stringent expenditure control and administrative
coordination measures for the next 30 days.
- This was informed in a press release issued by DIPRO of
Karbi Anglong on Sunday.
- The order mandated immediate restraint on non-essential
spending across government functions. It included deferring seminars, workshops
and ceremonies involving expenditure, halting foreign and non-essential tours
and pausing procurement of vehicles, furniture and office infrastructure. Large
gatherings and official functions are to be shifted to virtual mode unless deemed
essential.

- Further, printing of publicity material and promotional
drives under government schemes are to be suspended temporarily. Departments
have been instructed to conduct reviews of ongoing projects and pause
non-priority expenditures wherever possible.
- On the administrative front, the order emphasised enhanced
coordination.
- Government employees currently on leave are asked to recall
if necessary. All departments are asked to update contact details of staff,
ensure emergency preparedness in health institutions and maintain operational
readiness at field-level offices.
- Coordination for the movement of defence forces,
uninterrupted civil services and logistical support for emergencies are to be
intensified.
- The Assam government also appealed to all departments and institutions
to embody exemplary discipline and austerity during this period, reinforcing
the state’s commitment to efficiency, duty and solidarity.
