The Ao Students' Conference (AKM) has condemned the alleged sexual assault of a minor in Longkhum and demanded a swift probe.
MOKOKCHUNG — The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has condemned the alleged sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl in the Mokokchung district.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the student body described the act as a barbaric and inhuman crime that constitutes an unforgivable assault on a child’s innocence and a deep stain on society.
The conference stated that such heinous offences have no place in any civilised community.
The student body demanded that all concerned authorities ensure a swift, impartial, and time-bound investigation. It further insisted that, if convicted by a court of law, the accused must receive the maximum punishment permissible under the law, adding that crimes against children must be addressed firmly and without delay.

The AKM also expressed its unwavering solidarity with the child and her family, while urging the public to respect the victim’s privacy and dignity and to allow the legal process to proceed without interference.
Calling for collective action, the student body appealed to every village authority, community leader, youth organisation, and citizen to unite in the fight against crimes targeting women and children. It also reaffirmed its firm commitment to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and safety of every child and to ensuring that justice is served.
