DIMAPUR — The Ao Lanur Telongjem (ALT) and the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) have condemned the intrusion into a private residence and the subsequent abduction of five individuals by armed cadres, allegedly belonging to the NSCN-K (Khango), at Aoyimkum village, Dimapur, on the night of December 15.
In a press release, the ALT stated that it "strongly condemns the criminal intrusion by gun-toting cadres of the NSCN-K (Khango/Vusshe)" into the residence. It stated that the cadres fired rounds inside the premises, injuring a victim, and abducted five persons at gunpoint.
The ALT expressed disbelief that cadres could "blatantly enter into the jurisdiction of a government-recognised village and terrorise the occupants, among whom there were elderly parents, wife and children".

It noted that a year ago, an ALT member from Chümoukedima, Aolemba Longkumer, was served a demand slip by the same group. The ALT stated that the chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) and the Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) "has now lost his credibility by not taking any action against NPGs that have been blatantly breaking down the ceasefire ground rules" and demanded his resignation on moral grounds.
Demanding that the Dimapur Police investigate the matter and arrest the criminals without any further delay, the ALT also appealed to apex youth organisations and civil society organisations (CSOs) to "frame collective decision to start a non-cooperation against such NPGs".
Meanwhile, the DAYO expressed "profound outrage" at the "heinous and cowardly act of violence".
"Entering the private Home at midnight armed with sophisticated weapons and firing several rounds of gunfire inside the house in the presence of elderly parents, woman and children is a blatant display of lawlessness and an act of terror," the DAYO stated.
The organisation questioned the silence of authorities regarding violations of ceasefire ground rules and reaffirmed that the safety of its members is of paramount importance.
