Ao Lanur Telongjem has demanded accountability in the construction of the Sabangya Integrated AYUSH Hospital, supporting Chungtia Village Council and Chungtia Students’ Union.

DIMAPUR — The Ao Lanur Telongjem (ALT), the apex Ao youth organisation, has condemned the reported lapses in the construction of the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Sabangya and demanded immediate corrective action.
The organisation expressed solidarity with the Chungtia Village Council (CVC) and the Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU) in their demand for accountability and quality in the project.
In a press statement, ALT said it is deeply concerned by the reported lapses in construction, which have been acknowledged even by the contractor, KC Infra Projects Pvt Ltd, and added that the admission of "lapses" is a serious indictment of the work being carried out and confirms the legitimate grievances raised by the local bodies.

“Public infrastructure projects, especially those related to healthcare, must be executed with the highest standards of quality and integrity,” it said.
Commending the CVC and the CSU for their proactive and vigilant stance, the ALT said that their ultimatum for a joint inspection is a reasonable and necessary step to ensure that the rectification work is not merely a superficial fix but a genuine effort to address the core issues.
Calling it unacceptable that despite their efforts, there has been no official response from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, ALT called upon the department to immediately schedule a joint inspection.
The youth body maintained that it fully supports the demand for a joint inspection involving the CVC, the CSU, the district administration, civil societies, and the department officials, noting that this inspection is crucial to transparently assess the extent of the damage and the quality of ongoing repairs.
It said that the rectification work must be thorough and not just a quick patch-up job. The department must hold the contractor accountable to a standard that ensures the longevity and safety of the hospital structure.
While the contractor aims to meet the January 2026 deadline, this cannot come at the expense of quality, it said, adding that the satisfaction of the community and the public must be the paramount goal, not just the satisfaction of the department.
It went on to say that the lack of a response from the department is a failure of communication and urged the department to engage in open and transparent dialogue with the stakeholders and provide a clear plan of action.
Stating that the construction of the AYUSH Hospital is a significant investment in the health and well-being of the community and that it cannot be allowed to be marred by poor workmanship, the Ao Lanur Telongjem said that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and will not hesitate to take further action to ensure that the concerns of the public are addressed and a quality hospital is delivered to the people of Mokokchung.
