Registrar of Cooperatives Societies organises orientation on computerization of PACS.

DIMAPUR — A two-day orientation on computerisation of primary agriculture credit societies (PACS), organised by the Registrar of Cooperatives Societies, got underway at Cooperative Training Centre in Medziphema town on Wednesday.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, the Commissioner and Secretary of IPR and Cooperation department, Orenthung Lotha, highlighted the benefits of computerisation of PACS in serving the purpose of financial inclusion and strengthening service delivering to farmers. He also emphasised key aspects of the orientation programme and stated that it is an initiative of the Government of India to make PACS self-reliant and align with broader goal of prosperity through cooperatives societies.
Orenthung, who was also the special guest, also reminded the history of cooperatives movement, which formed the backbone of India. He stated that 29 crore people are directly involved in cooperative movement in India.

He also explained in detail its aims, objectives and diverse activities as well as the need of computerisation of PACS. He urged all the co-operatives societies present to actively participate in their activities.
He also requested the gathering to spread co-operative knowledge to the people. He further urged to upgrade their skills in their profession to bring positive results in the process of promoting co-operative movement in the state.
The programme was chaired by Chubamenla, principal of CTC, while the keynote address was delivered by Akangjongshi, deputy registrar of cooperative societies, and short speech was also delivered by Jonah Sema, general manager of NSCB Ltd.
A total of 44 cooperatives societies and 12 SRCS, ICS, ARCS attended the programme.
