Angami Students’ Union issues ‘students code of conduct’

  • DIMAPUR — Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has issued ‘students code of conduct’ for strict adherence within its jurisdiction.

  • The union has prohibited students at alcohol joints, cyber cafes or any other places in uniforms during school hours. It stated that the proprietors would be equally penalised in such cases.

  • It cautioned that students in uniform found indulging in any immoral activities both inside and outside the school would be penalised. It has warned of stern action in the event of any threat or any form of disrespecting the teachers and staff.

  • The union warned students against forming gangs and involving in gang fights and stated that such behaviour would be seriously dealt with. It urged the parents, teachers and public to discourage such practices by reporting such activities to the union.

  • It stated that student in uniform found taking any intoxicant substances would not be tolerated. It has strictly restricted sale of any tobacco products in and around the school campus.

  • The union has also prohibited students below the age of 18 to drive vehicles. Besides, it has prohibited usage of government vehicles for dropping and picking up of students from schools. It stated that such activities would be reported to the competent authority for necessary action.

  • Students are asked to dress appropriately and decently, while it also cautioned that any case of abuse amounting to harassment of students would not be tolerated.

  • It cautioned private colleges, schools, coaching institutes and hostels against imposing high rate of fees with little or no facilities. ASU along with concerned authorities would monitor such institutes.

  • ASU discouraged imposition of fines against failed subjects and absentees.

  • On tuition fee structure, the union has asked all concerned to maintain its resolution within the Angami jurisdiction till further notification. The monthly tuition fee for students from class 10 and below is INR 700 per students with at least 5 classes a week and minimum 1 hour for every class. The monthly home tuition fee is INR 2000 with minimum 1 hour for every class. The ratio of teacher/students for a single tuition batch should be 1:6.

  • While the above fee structure is strictly for urban areas, ASU has directed all its units to formulate their own fee structure in their respective village and jurisdiction.

  • The union cautioned that any person failing to comply with the norms would be severely dealt with. It also requested all institutions within its jurisdiction to take note of the regulations.
