- DIMAPUR — Citing
reports of drug peddling and abduction attempts targeting students, the Angami
Students’ Union (ASU) has issued an advisory urging students, parents and
educational institutions to exercise extreme caution and vigilance.
- “Inputs indicating a growing network of drugs peddlers
attempting to infiltrate school and college environments with the intention of
luring young students and also a recent surge in the concerning emergence of
students' abduction not only jeopardise the security and future of our youth
but also threaten the peace and integrity of our society,” the advisory read.

- The union recommended a four-step strategy as part of
cautionary measures. It advised the students to avoid contact with strangers
and immediately report any suspicious activity to school authorities, parents,
or the police.
- Parents and guardians have been asked to stay vigilant about
their child's whereabouts, peer groups, and behavioural changes.
- “To educational institutions: enhance security measures
within the campus and implement strict surveillance measures. Ensure
sensitisation programmes are held to educate students about the risks and
consequences of drug abuse and personal safety; immediately report any
suspicious movements or individuals to the law-enforcing authorities.
- “To the general public: we urge all citizens to be vigilant
and play an active role in protecting our students; promptly report unusual or
unlawful activities to the authorities,” it stated.
