DIMAPUR — Following reports of alleged sexual misconduct by a senior student at Sainik School Punglwa in Peren district, the Zeliangrong Youth Organisation Nagaland (ZYON) has appealed to parents, guardians, and cadets to cooperate with ongoing investigations.
The incident, said to have occurred on September 21, has prompted swift action by school authorities and law enforcement.
In a letter addressed to the school community on Saturday, the ZYON confirmed that a case has been registered at the Jalukie Police Station and is currently under investigation. The organisation also confirmed that the student allegedly involved has been expelled from the school.
“It has come to our attention that serious allegations of sexual misconduct by senior students toward juniors are being investigated. The case has been registered today at Jalukie Police Station,” the statement read.
It asserted that the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child are a sacred trust, and any violation is both unacceptable and deeply troubling.
The organisation informed that a formal investigation is now being conducted by law enforcement agencies in Peren district. “For this investigation to be thorough, just, and conclusive, it is imperative that we, as a community, stand together in support of the truth,” the letter stated.

Acknowledging the emotional trauma families may face, the ZYON urged parents and guardians to break the silence if their children have been affected or have witnessed any inappropriate behaviour.
“We implore you to come forward and cooperate fully with the law enforcement agencies. Community cooperation is crucial to ensure justice, uncover the truth, and hold those responsible accountable under the law,” the statement added.
The organisation further assured that strict confidentiality would be maintained to protect the identities of the child and the family. It also pledged to provide support, including professional counselling services, to affected students and their families.

Authorities have been requested to handle all interactions with sensitivity and respect.
The ZYON reiterated that decisive action is being taken to prevent any recurrence of such incidents, ensuring a safe school environment for all students and enabling affected children and families to begin the healing process.
Meanwhile, the Old Boys Association of Sainik Schools (OBASS), Nagaland Chapter, has been actively engaging with the school authorities.
A five-member OBASS team met with school officials on October 1, where the vice principal confirmed that the Class XII student involved had been expelled and sent home on September 29.
Both the accused and the victim are juveniles, and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), as per the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, is conducting a thorough investigation.
The CWC visited the school for a preliminary inquiry on September 30.
OBASS representatives also met with the Sainik School Parents’ Association and have scheduled a joint meeting with the principal on October 8 to discuss further steps.
The ZYON has provided dedicated helpline numbers—7085379949 and 8732875801—for parents and guardians seeking support or wishing to communicate regarding the matter.
