DIMAPUR — The All Sümi Students’ Union (SKK) has urged Nagaland government to address the exclusion of Sümi community villages in Mokokchung and Wokha districts from the recently advertised recruitment for Police constables.

In a press release issued on Monday, the SKK stated that the recruitment notification dated September 30, 2025, had allocated posts based on a district-wise tribal ratio, but villages inhabited by the Sümi community in Mokokchung and Wokha districts have been left out.

While appreciating the efforts of the state government and police in creating employment opportunities, the student body expressed dissatisfaction over what it termed as deliberate exclusion and marginalisation of Sümi villages in the two districts.

It appealed to the government to re-examine the district-wise allocation and allow Sümi youth residing in Mokokchung and Wokha to apply under their respective districts to ensure equal opportunity for all eligible candidates.

It further acknowledged the concerns raised by the Chakroma Public Organisation and the Western Sümi Hoho, supporting their demand for separate allocations in both districts for tribal representation.
