All Nagaland College Students' Union has given the Nagaland Higher Education department a three-day ultimatum to release the pending PMS-ST scholarships for the 2025-26 academic session.
DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) has issued a three-day ultimatum to the Department of Higher Education, demanding the immediate release of the pending Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (PMS-ST) beneficiaries for the 2025-26 academic session.
In an ultimatum addressed to the ex-officio director of the Higher Education department on Monday, the union expressed strong displeasure over the continued delay in disbursing the scholarship, stating that it has caused immense hardship to thousands of eligible students across the state.
ANCSU alleged that the department had misled its officials and the student community by assuring that the scholarship would be disbursed from July 18, 2026.
It said the repeated assurances failed to materialise, eroding students' confidence in the department and reflecting a lack of accountability towards their welfare.

The union demanded that the department initiate the disbursement of the pending PMS-ST scholarships to all eligible beneficiaries within three days.
It warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would leave the union with no option but to launch democratic mass agitation to safeguard the legitimate rights and welfare of the student community.
ANCSU stated that the department would be solely responsible for any consequences arising from its continued inaction.
The union also called upon the Minister for Higher Education to intervene urgently, discharge the department's responsibility, and ensure that students are not compelled to resort to democratic protests.
Meanwhile, ANCSU appealed to students across the state to remain calm and refrain from undertaking any independent agitation.
It said the union would initiate the necessary course of protest if the department failed to begin the scholarship disbursement within the three-day deadline.
