MOKOKCHUNG — The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has served a five-day ultimatum to the department of School Education, effective from the date of receipt of its letter, demanding full compliance with court orders to resolve pending matters related to the 2016 batch of Nagaland RMSA teachers.
The ultimatum comes amid the ongoing agitation by RMSA teachers in the state capital, which has created uncertainty and disrupted the educational environment.
Expressing concern over the impact, AKM said the situation has affected the functioning of 133 government high schools and 367 teachers across Nagaland. The organisation termed the disruption of academic activities “unacceptable.”

“Students are being denied their fundamental right to a stable and quality education. We believe education should remain uninterrupted, and all stakeholders, including the government, must actively work towards resolving this issue,” AKM stated.
The student body called on the government to implement the orders of the High Court and Supreme Court to address the concerns of RMSA 2016 teachers. It emphasised that doing so was not only a legal obligation but also a moral responsibility, as the delay directly affects the academic progress of students across the state.
AKM further noted that despite repeated peaceful agitations and representations, little progress had been made. It warned that if the demands are not met within the stipulated timeframe, the organisation would be “compelled to pursue alternative courses of action to protect the future and welfare of the students,” holding the department responsible for any consequences.
The AKM urged the government to treat the matter with urgency and respond immediately to prevent further escalation.
