Akehta Sangtamlarü Thsingmüjang condemns attempt to murder in Kiphire town

DIMAPUR — The Akehta Sangtamlarü Thsingmüjang (AST) has strongly condemned the brutal assault and alleged attempt to murder of Atsapila from Langzanger village on the night of May 1.
The organisation stated that the accused person identified as Repongli of Kiphire village and resident of Jail Ward Colony in Kiphire town attacked the victim with intent to cause death. It stated that such an act was not only a grave crime against an individual but also a direct assault on the dignity, safety and rights of all women.
Terming the incident ‘deeply disturbing,’ it has sought urgent need for accountability and strong safeguards for women and added that violence of this nature was unacceptable and must be met with zero tolerance.

AST has called upon the concerned authorities to conduct a swift, impartial and thorough investigation and to take stringent action against the perpetrator in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, AST has expressed solidarity with the victim and her family and prayed for her speedy recovery. It further assured full support in her pursuit for justice.
