
ATMA officials and participants during a capacity building
programme on value addition of horticultural crops in Yaongyimti New village on
Friday.
- DIMAPUR — Agricultural
Technology Management Agency (ATMA) of Chuchuyimlang block under Mokokchung
district conducted a capacity building programme in Yaongyimti Old and
Yaongyimti New villages on Friday.
- An update from ATMA Chuchuyimlang stated that the programme
was conducted with an aim to strengthen the capabilities of the farmers and to
equip them with necessary skills and knowledge to help increase their income
and reduce post-harvest losses.
- A capacity building on ‘Oyster mushroom cultivation’ was
conducted at Yaongyimti Old village, where the resource person Aolemla Kichu,
BTM Chuchuyimlang block, explained on the various methods for oyster mushroom
cultivation and highlighted on preparing the substrate, spawning the substrate
and managing the crop for fruiting.

- She also gave a hands-on demonstration on step-by-step
process of oyster mushroom cultivation by hot water treatment method.
Techniques on how to tie and hang the polybags were also imparted to the
participants.
- Another capacity building programme on ‘Value addition of
horticultural crops’ was also conducted in Yaongyimti New village, where the
resource person Chubaienla Jamir, ATM Chuchuyimlang block, explained on various
methods to reduce post-harvest losses of horticultural crops such as making
pickle, drying, fermentation and canning methods. She also gave a hands-on
demonstration on preparation of chilli pickle and banana chips.
