DIMAPUR — The ‘Aggrieved Villagers on Foothills Road Forum’ from the Bhandari and Changpang areas in Wokha district has reiterated its support for the Lotha Hoho resolution on the construction of Foothills Road.

A press release on Sunday informed that the forum had held a meeting on July 12 at Bhandari Town and reviewed ongoing developments related to the foothills road construction, particularly the recent “slight” alteration in road alignment.

The revised alignment reflects the final agreement reached by the Changpang Area Sub-Committee on Foothills Road, formed in July 2024, in the presence of the chief engineer of PWD (R&B) and the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), it stated.

The forum recalled the assurance given by the department on August 7, 2024, during a meeting in Kohima, that the Nagaland Foothills Road project would proceed in accordance with the aspirations of the local population, as originally envisioned in 2013.

Welcoming the recent demarcation of a 40-foot-wide approved road alignment, including the installation of boundary pillars along the Longtsiri–Changpang ONCC–New and Old Tssori–Northern Sumi–Longtho route (via Sumito under Baghty Division), the forum urged the state government to begin construction without delay.

The forum also expressed appreciation for the Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation (LLRPO) and the Changpang Area Committee on Foothills Road for endorsing the Lotha Hoho’s representation submitted to the chief engineer, PWD (R&B) on June 15, 2024.

After extensive deliberations, the forum resolved to reaffirm its unwavering support for the resolution adopted during the Merapani Joint Consultative Meeting on May 15, 2025, which was attended by representatives from the NFHRCC, Lotha Hoho, and the Aggrieved Villagers Forum.
