KOHIMA — Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Thursday called on people to dedicate the time between Christmas and New Year as ‘Family Week,’ a time for prayer and to strategise plans for the new year, making judicious use of the holiday season.
The advisor was addressing the Naga People’s Front (NPF) 18-Chozuba Assembly Constituency (AC) ‘Thanksgiving-cum-advent Christmas’ programme hosted at his private residence, Old Minister’s Hill, Kohima.
Khamo highlighted that the divine plan is greater than human plans and asserted that the merger between the NDPP and NPF was aimed at strengthening the regional party, unifying the Naga people in the backdrop of the long-felt aspiration for an early solution to the protracted Naga political issue, and bringing development to the state through a stable government.
He asserted that the NPF is the oldest regional party in the Northeast region and expressed hope that the political alignment would strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

Towards this, he assured party workers that with the blessings and mandate he received from the people of the constituency, he is working towards fulfilling their aspirations and called for better cohesion and coordination to work for development and the empowerment of youth and the masses.
He also reiterated that the long-felt need of the constituency for a bank was addressed with the inauguration of a bank at Chetheba town, which has reduced monetary expenditure for people seeking banking services in other towns and places, while expressing optimism for better financial literacy and inclusion.
Highlighting that ‘The Village Fair’was organised alongside the launching of ‘One Family, One Project; One Family, One Entrepreneur; and One Family, One Prayer Time’ under The Green Village Link (GVL), Khamo emphasised the need to take up projects and raise and empower the business and entrepreneurial community so that they would help the people.
Additionally, he commended the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, whom he described as one of the tallest leaders in national and regional politics, and lauded him for providing a stable government with peace and tranquillity while working for the overall development of the state.
Padma Shri Sano Vamuzo, president of Women Wing, NPF, expressed concern over division and factionalism in Naga society, and urged them to work for unity. She added that people should not lose God-given values and traditions. She also highlighted that the NDPP–NPF party merger is aimed at working for the unity of the Nagas and remaining true to the Naga cause of self-determination, adding that politics is not dirty but meant to uphold law and justice.
Furthermore, she implored the people to put full faith in God with sincerity and humility and remain true to the stand of the NPF to bridge the Government of India and the Naga issue through understanding and forgiveness while exhibiting unity.
A message was delivered by Rev. Dr. Wepre Mero, pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers Hill, Kohima (CBCKMH), who stressed the unmerited favour of God with unfailing love as a perfect gift.
He implored the people to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and look beyond short-term worldly things, adding that the true meaning of Christmas is love and that Christmas should fill their lives and homes with love.
