DIMAPUR — Advisor of IPR and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen, on Monday commissioned the Command and Control Centre (CCC) at the Directorate of Soil & Water Conservation, Kohima.

The CCC is funded by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Government of Nagaland under the soil health and fertility component of RKVY, a DIPR report stated.

A Command and Control Centre is a tech-based hub to centralise and analyse datas to allow farmers to interact directly with officials providing authentic advice to farmers.

It provides real-time insights on crop, soil conditions, and other key indicators to officials and ultimately to farmers. Farmers can contact the toll free number for Nagaland +917965192504 for further queries related to soil health and fertility.

After commissioning the CCC, Imchen said that it is necessary to establish such kind of centre to ease the burden of the field staffs, particularly the farmers to help decision making, identify, and address challenges related to soils and crops.

He emphasised on bridging the gap between experts and the farmers and highlighted the need for accessible communication between them to produce preferable results.

The advisor further urged the field officers and the farmers to foster trust from within, which will reflect the department’s progress and commitment to adopting innovative technologies for sustainable soil and water management.

Director of Soil & Water Conservation, L Chubaonen, highlighted the CCC's technical report, stating it was conceptualized as a centralized digital hub to enhance data-driven decision-making, real-time monitoring, and effective implementation of the soil health and fertility programme.

The CCC's primary objectives include improving inter-departmental coordination for better programme delivery, serving as a knowledge hub for soil health management and farmer advisories, integrating and monitoring field activities, such as soil health cards and fertility mapping, and facilitating real-time data collection, analysis, and visualisation through ICT and GIS tools.

Later, the advisor virtually inaugurated the bio-fertiliser production units at Rotomi and Seyochung.
