MANGMETONG — In a push towards youth empowerment, Advisor for Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation Daochier I Imchen announced an INR 20 lakh skill development package under the State Planning Board’s local area planning programme.
Addressing a thanksgiving programme organised by the Mangmetong Village Council at Panchayat Bhavan on June 6, Imchen said around 20 deserving and skilled youths from the 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency would be selected during the current financial year through consultations with party leaders and village councils under the skill development package.
He added that nearly 40 youths are expected to benefit over the next two financial years, with equal representation ensured across villages in the constituency through this initiative.
The advisor laid strong emphasis on the quality of proposals, urging beneficiaries to demonstrate sincerity, viability, and a clear focus on sustainable livelihood opportunities.
“Only genuine and committed projects will be considered,” he said, while describing the initiative as one of his immediate priorities. “These are among the immediate initiatives that I intend to undertake,” Imchen informed.

Imchen thanked the BJP for nominating him as its candidate in the recent by-election and extended his appreciation to the people of Koridang constituency for their support.
“It is not only those gathered here today whom I thank, but also those who supported me tirelessly behind the scenes and shared in the struggles and sacrifices throughout the campaign,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive representation, Imchen stated that he would serve all citizens irrespective of political affiliation.
“I am not an MLA for Mangmetong Village or for the BJP alone, but for the entire Koridang constituency,” he declared.

“How much I can do, I will do,” he assured the gathering, promising to avoid unrealistic promises and focus on achievable goals during his tenure.
