Achumbemo Kikon inaugurates the SDPDB conference hall in Bhandari and reviews healthcare, road and power supply issues.

BHANDARI — Advisor for SCERT and Food Processing and Chairman of the Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB), Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, inaugurated the newly constructed SDPDB conference hall-cum-chairman’s office at the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office premises in Bhandari on October 9.
According to a DIPR report, the three-storey building was constructed under the State Plan.
In his address, Kikon expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang for their support towards the construction of the building.
He said the original detailed project report (DPR) did not include strong rooms, but additional arrangements were made to accommodate secure strong rooms in anticipation of future infrastructural requirements.
Officers and public leaders who spoke at the programme lauded Kikon’s leadership, stating that Bhandari was witnessing significant developmental changes under his people-centric approach.
During the SDPDB meeting that followed, Kikon welcomed the new members and reviewed the agenda items.

Wokha launches two-wheeler taxi service
Expressing concern over the prolonged vacancy of a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) and the shortage of doctors and nurses at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bhandari, he urged public leaders to pursue the matter with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Wokha. He also assured the house that he would take up the issue with the department concerned.
The meeting also deliberated on the proposed construction of a temporary jeepable road from Merapani village to Mekirang village along the Foothill Road alignment.
The district administration informed the house that an estimate committee had been constituted to inspect the proposed stretch and prepare a cost estimate for the work.
President of the LLRPO, Dr. Alex Kithan, acknowledged Kikon’s contribution of INR 1 lakh towards the crowd-funding initiative for the road project and requested further assistance in providing JCBs and dumper trucks.
The house also acknowledged the chairman of Merapani Village Council for his commitment to donate four large Hume pipes for the proposed construction.
Kikon urged the agencies and departments concerned to improve and maintain road conditions along the Foothill Road.
President of the Yanmhon Area Public Organisation (YAPO), N Thungdemo Tungoe, submitted an undertaking informing the house that the 20 villages affected by the upgrade of power supply from 11 kV to 33 kV had adopted a unified resolution to cooperate with the department to ensure the smooth execution of the work.
Dr. Kithan also highlighted that Bhandari subdivision has 12 high schools but no college. He urged the house to take up the matter of establishing a college in the subdivision to benefit the younger generation.
Meanwhile, Lead Bank Manager, Wokha, Chophathung Yanthan, provided an overview of the operations, deposits and advances of banking institutions in Wokha district.
On October 8, Kikon also inaugurated a newly constructed road connecting the Community Health Centre to the public cemetery in Bhandari.
He also thanked the public for their cooperation in completing the construction of roads and culverts near the SDEO office and in Tchüpokphen, Züvodung and Meri colonies in Bhandari.
