Government departments and political parties including BJP and NPF celebrate Advent Christmas across Nagaland with messages of hope and unity.

DIMAPUR/MOKOKCHUNG — Various government departments and political parties celebrated Advent Christmas across the state with messages of peace, unity and hope.

BJP Nagaland: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland organised its maiden Advent Christmas celebration at the Town Hall, Mokokchung, on Wednesday on the theme “Light the world”.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP Nagaland President Benjamin Yepthomi emphasised that genuine progress can only flourish through harmonious coexistence. He announced that the party plans to extend similar celebrations to other districts in the years ahead.
According to an update, O Tinu Lkr, president of BJP Mokokchung, delivered the welcome address, while the Christmas message was delivered by Rev. Dr. Bendang Lkr, pastor of Artang Baptist Church. Messages from Minister Temjen Imna Along and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton were also read out.
Naga People’s Front: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) celebrated Advent Christmas at its central office in Kohima on the theme “Glory to God in the highest”.

MLA and Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon described Christmas as a season of hope and appealed to Nagas to bury their differences. He noted that despite divisions, the collective aspiration for unity remains the greatest wish during Christmas.
Rev. Thsadongse Sangtam, pastor of Sangtam Baptist Lithro Kohima, urged the gathering to spread the gospel like a good shepherd. The programme was chaired by Merentoshi R Jamir, vice president.
Health and Family Welfare: The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW) celebrated Advent Christmas at the Directorate Lobby in Kohima.
Rev. Kedo Peseyie, pastor of City Church Kohima, delivered the message based on 1 Timothy 1:15. Principal Director Dr. Mereninla Senlem encouraged employees to be a gift to one another through kindness and support.
The department also felicitated the 'Best Employee of the Year 2025'. The awards were given to M Meguosonuo (UDA) as best ministerial staff, Tasi as best MTS, and Pradip Sunchuri as best driver.
Commissioner’s Office: An Advent Christmas programme was held at the Office of the Commissioner, Nagaland, in Kohima on December 16.
Joint Commissioner Nokchasashi stated that Advent is a time for government employees to reflect on their lives and responsibilities. He appreciated the dedication of the officers and staff.
Sungtiba Amer, assistant chief engineer, CAWD, highlighted the significance of the season as a period of waiting and preparation. Tsutsowe Kupa, undersecretary, Border Affairs and SEC, also spoke on the occasion.
