Two-day ‘Adolescent Fest 2025’ organised by the Can Youth commences at DDSC Stadium.

DIMAPUR — The third edition of two-day ‘Adolescent Fest 2025,’ organised by the Can Youth, in collaboration with ICFAI University Nagaland, commenced on Friday here at the DDSC Stadium on the theme “Dream, discover, do.”
Addressing the inaugural programme as special guest, Assistant Commissioner of GST Dimapur, S Krishnan, said that adolescent is a crucial phase of life, a time to make or break, and emphasised its significance in shaping one's future.
The special guest urged the youth to take action, unite, and excel, while advising parents to guide them correctly, minimise distractions, and foster a positive attitude for success.
Quoting a famous Hollywood celebrity, Krishnan stated that “Social media is the enemy of our generation,” and asserted that social media should be for furthering progress, not a hindrance to progress.

The guest of honour and Pro Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University Nagaland, Dr. Amit Kumar, said that most of the dreams of the adolescents are shattered at home as most of the parents emphasises on education.
Dr. Kumar stated that a degree doesn't guarantee a good future, and there are many alternative paths to achieve great success in life.
He described adolescence as a phase of exploration, identity formation, and dream-chasing, saying events like this foster confidence and positivity in young minds.
He advised against comparing oneself to others, suggesting self-comparison instead, and stressed that encouraging creativity is key to true learning.
“Adolescence is not a problem to be solved; it is a potential to be unleashed. When supported with the right guidance, empathy, opportunities; adolescence emerges as resilient, thoughtful, and innovative adults,” he added.
Dr. Kumar further maintained that adolescents flourish in an environment where they feel heard, respected, and understood.
Member of Nagaland State Human Rights Commission, R Nzambemo Lotha; president of Dimapur Eastern Naga Students’ Union, Thongule Sangtam; and director of Prodigal Home, K Ela, also addressed the event.
The keynote address was delivered by founder and chief functionary of Can Youth, Jenpu Rongmei.
The two-day Adolescent Fest 2025 includes various events like Mr. & Miss Adolescent competition, painting, slogan contests, dance, singing, creative competitions, sports, and awareness sessions.
