ADC Tizit bans single use plastic

DIMAPUR — In compliance with the Government order dated July 20, 2024, and in view of the serious environmental hazards posed by plastic waste, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tizit, Relise Sangtam, has announced ban on single-use plastics within Tizit sub-division jurisdiction with effect from September 1.


According to a DIPR report, the notification stated that all single-use plastic bottles, carry bags, irrespective of thickness, size, or colour, and plastic water bottles with a capacity of less than one litre will be prohibited.

To ensure strict implementation, the enforcement team will conduct regular checking and inspections. Defaulters will face penalties of INR 10,000 for the first offence and INR 20,000 for the second offence, while repeated violations may lead to the cancellation of trade licenses.


The ADC also urged citizens to adopt eco-friendly alternatives and contribute towards building a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally responsible sub-division.
