"If anybody tells you your dreams are too big please punch them in the face"
DIMAPUR — Abdon Mech, a household name from Thahekhu in Dimapur, Nagaland, is set to open John Mayer’s debut show in India and he is beyond thrilled.
John Mayer who has won seven Grammy Awards from 19 nominations throughout his career will perform for the first time in Mumbai on February 11.
“I am opening for John Mayer. This kid is opening for his absolute hero. Who would have thought this village boy from Thahekhu, Nagaland would be supporting one of the greatest musical artists of this generation. If anybody tells you your dreams are too big please punch them in the face. Please punch them in the face. I am chasing my dream. I found out 48 hours ago and it’s just hitting me now. Let’s Go. Please chase your dream. It’s worth it, I promise”. This was the exact message by excited Abdon Mech on his social media post on Monday following the flier shared by bookmyshow on social media.
It all started last October when Abdon Mech, in his word, “attempted the most insane thing” by seeking help from internet if he can open for John Mayer’s concert and within no time, the internet showered love upon him by tagging John Mayer and bookmyshow in the comments section. Following his confirmation as the opening act for the legend, he commented on the same post “manifestation is real. Be absurd, normal is boring”.
Mech, the pop singer-songwriter from Thahekhu Village, is making big waves. He has built a massive organic following in Nagaland and beyond, and now he's taking the stage with John Mayer in Mumbai. Performing his own hits for an hour, Abdon's living his dream and it is a huge moment for Nagaland, one of its own sharing the spotlight with a global music icon.
