7th Inter-Departmental Sports Meet begins in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — The 7th Inter-Departmental Sports Meet organised by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, commenced at the Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex near ADC Court, Dimapur, on Thursday and will continue till November 15.


At the inaugural programme, the opening prayer was pronounced by Rev. Yhunlo Thong, chaplain, District Hospital Dimapur Fellowship, followed by the oath-taking ceremony administered by Kevi, PIS, District Sports Office, Dimapur.


According to an update, Zakabo V Rotokha, additional deputy commissioner, Dimapur, inaugurated the sports meet, marking the beginning of the three-day inter-departmental event.


The event aims to foster unity, teamwork, and healthy competition among various government departments under Dimapur district. A range of sporting events has been lined up, including badminton (men’s and women’s doubles), table tennis (singles and doubles), carrom, penalty shootout, and tug of war for both men and women.

Inter-departmental tournament concludes in Phek


During the inauguration, Rotokha said that the inter-departmental sports meet serves as a platform to strengthen camaraderie and cooperation among the officers and staff.


He added that the participating departments are demonstrating true sporting spirit, discipline, and enthusiasm beyond their official responsibilities.


The ADC encouraged all participants to uphold sportsmanship and maintain respect toward umpires, opponents, and spectators throughout the meet.
