78 Battalion CRPF observes CRPF Day with patriotic fervour.

DIMAPUR — The 78 Battalion CRPF has observed CRPF Day on March 19 at its headquarters in Zubza under Kohima district with patriotic fervour.
CRPF Day is observed every year to honour the valiant legacy, distinguished service and supreme sacrifices of the personnel of the force.
An update from the battalion stated that CRPF is the largest central armed police force in the world. It has played a sterling role in maintaining internal security of the country.

Raised as the Crown Representative's Police Force in 1939 at Neemach in Madhya Pradesh, the force has a sterling saga of bravery and valour. After Independence, in 1949, the force was renamed as the Central Reserve Police Force by the CRPF Act 1949.
It mentioned that CRPF was awarded its colour by the President of India on March 19, 1950, and this day is celebrated as "CRPF DAY" every year. It stated that since then, CRPF has played a pivotal role in maintaining internal security, counter-insurgency/ naxalism operations, election duties, disaster response and aid to civil authorities across the nation, living up to the foresightedness reposed on it by the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
The event commenced with paying tribute to the martyrs of the force at Shaheed Smarak, who laid down their lives in the line of duty, followed by a special guard drill at quarter guard and Sainik Sammelan attended by all officers and jawans.
The event concluded with all ranks reaffirming their oath to serve the nation with unwavering loyalty, professionalism and a deep sense of duty. Further, in the evening, a gaming event, cultural programme and bada khana were held to celebrate the occasion.
