Police have arrested five individuals who were involved in illegal stone
quarrying in Thoubal district. The incident took place at Lungthar village
under Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district on April 2.
- The arrested persons were identified as Wairokpam Somorjit
Meitei (28) of Yairipok Khoirom Kangjeibung (driver), Keisham Sumonanda Meitei
(26) of Yairipok Khoirom Kangjeibung (driver), Haobam Naocha Singh (19) of
Yairipok Khoirom Kangjeibung (driver), Md. Rami Khan (41) of Shikhong Khunou
(driver) and Md Abir Khan (35) of Shikhong Khunou (supplier), according to
police sources.

- Three Tata dumper hyva and one excavator (JCB) were also
seized from the spot, police added.
- On the other hand, security forces arrested one person
identified as Md Faiju Rahaman (40) of Kairang Mamang Leikai, Imphal East
District along with suspected brown sugar while conducting random frisking
checking between Naranseina and Sunusiphai village along NH-2 under Moirang
police station in Bishnupur district on April 2.
- Twelve numbers of soap cases with suspected brown sugar
weighing around 661.8 gram in total (approx.) and one four-wheeler were also
recovered from his possession.
- “On 02.04.2025, security forces arrested 01(one) active
member of KCP (PWG), namely, Khoirom Deepsea Devi @ Irunganbi (33) of Haobam
Marak Lourembam Leikai under Singjamei-PS, Imphal West District from Thongju
Part-II Leirak Macha under Singjamei-PS, Imphal West district,” the state
police wrote on X.
- One mobile phone along with two SIM cards and one Aadhaar
card were seized from her possession.
