Chetheba town hosts 37th Chokri Area Baptist Youth Fellowship held from January 9 to the 11th witnessing the participation of 1,000 delegates

KOHIMA — The 37th Chokri Area Baptist Youth Fellowship (CABYF) was held at Chetheba town, Phek district, from January 9 to the 11th, hosted by the Chetheba Town Baptist Church.
The three-day fellowship witnessed the participation of 1,000 delegates representing Baptist churches from across Chokri area. Delegates attended from Chesezu, Chetheba town, Kikruma, Khulazu Basa, K Bawe, North Kikruma, Phusachodu, Phuyoba, Thenyizu, and Thipuzu Baptist churches.
The speakers included Rev. Dr. Chekroveyi Cho-o, executive secretary, CBCC, who delivered messages calling upon the Church to walk in sincerity and holiness.
His topics included ‘Finding identity in Christ’ and ‘Do not defile yourself,’ urging believers to live lives rooted in Christ.
Rev. Küvemüriyi Vadeo, pastor of NCF Shillong, spoke on the theme ‘Grounded in the Word: Standing firm in a shifting culture,’ emphasising the importance of a biblical foundation amid changing societal values.
Rev. Vesüpra Tetseo, pastor of Chetheba Town Baptist Church, ministered on the topic ‘Return to the Lord,’ calling the youth to spiritual renewal and commitment.

Competitions were conducted during the fellowship to encourage participation and fellowship among the churches. The competitions were judged by C Kroso Kezo, Sekhoyi Chuzho, Posezo Nyekha, Vekusu Chuzho, and Zhosazo Keyho.
In the theme song competition, Chetheba Baptist Church secured first place, followed by K Basa Baptist Church in second place and Chesezu Baptist Church in third place.
The Bible quiz competition was also won by Chetheba Town Baptist Church, with Kuveluyi Theyo awarded the title of best quizzer.
In solo (singing) competition, Veluvolu Rhakho of Chetheba won first place, while Tavelu Vero of Phusachodu and Rupfusato Theyo of Thenyizu secured second and third places, respectively.
In the duet competition, Thipuzu Baptist Church emerged as the winner, followed by Chetheba Town Baptist Church in second place and Kikruma Baptist Church in third place.
A new team of office bearers for the Chokri Area Baptist Youth Fellowship (2026-2027) was announced, with Zaveta Tunyi as chairman.
