DIMAPUR — The 7th conference of the Catholic Women Association was held at Threntsuvong in Kiphire under the theme ‘Strong Women, Strong Future’ from January 9 to 11.
Ninety women delegates from six villages—Pungro, New Vongti, Vongwa, Cedeyevong, Khongiri, and Threntsuvong—attended the convention, according to an update.
The conference was held to offer networking and inspirational talks to transform lives. Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, Rev. Fr. Peter Pithungo, and Rev. Fr. Mathew Neni were the resource persons.
Speaking on the theme ‘Women who made a difference’ on the first day, Rev. Fr. Toretkiu highlighted inspiring stories of women who made a significant impact on the world, such as Mother Teresa, Kalpana Chawla, and Indira Gandhi, as well as biblical figures like Esther, Mary, Ruth, Deborah, and Hannah.
He noted that Esther risked her life to save her people, while Mary humbly accepted her divine role. He added that Ruth's loyalty led her to become part of King David's family, Deborah led Israel to victory, and Hannah's fervent prayers were answered.

He stated that these stories teach valuable lessons: trust God's plan, show loyalty and devotion, pray fervently, and step into leadership roles with courage. He added that their examples inspire people to make a positive impact, noting that actions can have a profound impact and challenges can be overcome with God's strength.
Rev. Fr. Mathew Neni highlighted the theme ‘Women on their knees keep their family standing’. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “women often bear the weight of family responsibilities, and their resilience is awe-inspiring.” He appreciated mothers for their hard work and encouraged them to keep prayer as their weapon.
Rev. Fr. Peter Pithungo, parish priest, highlighted the pivotal role mothers play in keeping their families thriving. Stating that "a mother's love is the fuel that enables a family to run," he urged mothers to stay rooted in their faith.
The celebration culminated with a Eucharistic celebration on Sunday, January 11, officiated by Rev. Fr. Pithungo, parish priest of St. Paul Parish, Pungro, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Toretkiu.
Competitions such as quiz, singing, and other creative performances were held among the different villages.
