31st General Wrestling Meet of CAWA hosted by Phusachodu village begins Jan 14. Kudecho Khamo to attend opening ceremony.

KOHIMA — The 31st General Wrestling Meet of the Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA), hosted by Phusachodu village, is set to be held at the local ground in Phusachodu in Phek on Wednesday, January 14.
Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, will attend the meet as the special guest for the opening ceremony, while Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) President Vivolie Kezo will be the guest of honour. The wrestling will commence from 9 am.
Hukupa Ciekhan, president of CAWA, informed that ten CAWA units, comprising villages and towns with a total of 21 wrestlers, will participate in the senior category of the wrestling meet, alongside nine wrestlers in the Under-15 Naga Wrestling category. Prominent wrestlers such as Venuzo Dawhuo and Vemele Thingo are expected to compete for the champion title.

The champion will receive a cash prize of INR 1.5 lakh, while the runner-up will receive INR 1 lakh. The third- and fourth-place winners will receive INR 70,000 and INR 40,000, respectively.
In the Under-15 category, the champion will be awarded INR 40,000, while the second-place winner will receive INR 25,000. The third- and fourth-place holders will receive INR 15,000 and INR 5,000, respectively.
The winner will also be awarded a Champion Belt in memory of Rev. Pusazo Chuzho, which will be retained by anyone who wins five consecutive championships.
For wrestling fans and spectators, ticket prices for the CAWA Wrestling Meet are as follows: gallery – INR 200; chair back rows – INR 300; chair front rows next to donors – INR 500; donors – INR 2,000; and donors+ – INR 5,000.
