IMPHAL — The Manipur government has declared a three-day state mourning from February 22 to 24 in honour of Vungzagin Valte, BJP MLA of Thanlon Assembly Constituency, who passed away on February 21.
According to an official order issued by Deputy Secretary, General Administration Department, Thokchom Bedajit, under the directions of the governor on Saturday, state mourning will be observed from February 22 to February 24 across Manipur.

“The National flag will be flown at half-mast on these three days throughout the state and there will be no official entertainment on the days of state mourning that is from 22nd to 24 February 2026,” the official order stated.
Earlier, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh paid last respects to the BJP legislator who passed away in a hospital in Delhi NCR.
"Paid my last respects and paid homage to Pu Vungzagin Valte, Hon’ble MLA, Thanlon AC, today following his demise at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, at 2: 20 PM. A wreath was laid as a mark of profound respect and tribute to his dedicated service," Singh wrote in a post on X on Saturday.
