KOHIMA — Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, on Sunday announced that the second phase of the Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) will be disbursed soon once the Centre releases the funds.
Addressing the media at his official residence, the minister said that the first phase of the scholarship had already been released a few months ago, and acknowledged that the students are anxiously waiting for the second phase, as many have not received their scholarship till now.
Along said the department is in pursuit of securing the central share of the Post-Matric Scholarship from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs had, on September 15, requested a statement of expenditure and requirements for 2024-25, which the department has promptly addressed and submitted.

He exuded hope that once the central share is released to the state, the scholarship will be disbursed without delay to the remaining students who have not received till date.

On proposed setting up of a scholarship nodal cell, the state government under Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen had met with all the line departments that take care of scholarships a few weeks ago.
Even for the Post-Matric Scholarship, a nodal cell is to be formed under the Higher Education department, he added.
Along also informed that the establishment of a scholarship nodal cell under the Higher Education department is underway, with formalities and procedures being finalised.

He expressed optimism that the nodal cell will be set up soon, facilitating better coordination with other departments that provide scholarships to Nagaland's students.
Furthermore, the minister assured his commitment to ensure the timely establishment of the scholarship nodal cell.
