A total of 224 runners took part in the State Red Run 2025 at Sovima, Chümoukedima, organised by NSACS with NOA and Nagaland Athletics.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and Nagaland Athletics, organised the State Red Run 2025 at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, Sovima, Chümoukedima, on Saturday.
The run was held on the theme “Run for awareness, run against HIV and STIs”, according to a press release. The programme began with a welcome address, followed by the pledge and flag-off ceremony led by Dr. Ahu Sekhose, project director, NSACS.
The event featured two categories: State Level Red Run 10K (Men and Women) and Open 10K (Men and Women). The Open 10K races were flagged off by Abu Metha, secretary general and vice president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

A total of 224 runners registered for the event. The prize distribution and closing ceremony took place at the Multidisciplinary Stadium, Sovima, Chümoukedima, where short remarks were delivered by Abu Metha and Dr. Ahu Sekhose before presenting awards to the winners.
In the State Level Red Run 10K Men’s category, the first position was secured by Changsang Wongto from Tuensang, followed by Temjensanen Pongen from Mokokchung in second place, and Takasanen Longkumer, also from Mokokchung, in third. In the Women’s category, Tsuchoi T from Dimapur emerged as the winner, with Niansai T, also from Dimapur, in second place, and Jemie Y from Tuensang in third.
In the Open 10K Men’s category, the first position was claimed by Wede Tmero from Phek. He was followed by Ringhorsem Muinao from Assam in second, Thotngacheirin Hunphun Luiyi from Senapati (Manipur) in third, Arjun Chetri from Assam in fourth, and Nagalong T Tikhir from Dimapur in fifth.
In the Open 10K Women’s category, Makakmayum Minarashi from Assam secured the top position. She was followed by Peiheiteile Esalung from Peren in second, Rutseinuo from Chümoukedima in third, Anjali Kumari from Dimapur in fourth, and Ilungkuale Newme from Chümoukedima in fifth.
