
Players in actions during the first Patkai Alumni Badminton
Championship 2025, on Friday.
- DIMAPUR — The
first Patkai Alumni Badminton Championship 2025, organised by Patkai Badminton
Club, kicked off at Dr. H Ibotombi Singh Indoor Stadium, Patkai Christian
College (PCC), Chümoukedima, on Friday.
- A total of 16 teams are taking part in the championship held
on the theme ‘More than a game’, the college stated in an update.
- In his address, PCC founder Principal Emeritus Rev. Dr.
Tuisem A Shishak, the special guest occasion of the event, encouraged the
alumni and emphasised the importance of the stadium as a symbol of growth,
unity, and progress for the Patkai community.
- Referring to universities like Cambridge, Harvard and
Stanford, he said, they are living on because of their alumni.

- Shishak also reminded the gathering that morality cannot be
separated from Christian faith and that practicing one's faith in daily life is
essential. Quoting an American saying, “When money talks, people listen,” he
encouraged the listeners to choose values over worldly wealth and to lead lives
that speak through action.
- Addressing the alumni, he expressed heartfelt gratitude,
saying that their support were “the reasons he could continue their journey
with purpose.”
- Dr. Thepfuvilie Pieru, Principal of PCC, declared the
championship open.
- Earlier, the programme commenced with a welcome address by
Somingam Shimray, president of Patkai Badminton Club, PCC, followed by opening
prayer by Avono Iralu, assistant professor, Dept. of Biblical Studies, PCC.
