DIMAPUR — The much-anticipated 13th Dimapur Night Carnival, a Hornbill Extension, was inaugurated on Saturday.
The 5-day carnival will run till December 10 along the stretch from Clock Tower to Police Point (Holy Cross School).
The event is jointly organised by the Dimapur district administration, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), and supported by the Department of Tourism.
This year’s carnival features over a hundred stalls showcasing exotic food and beverages, fun games, toys, accessories and various local products.

Addressing the inaugural event as the special guest, Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, expressed delight at being part of the event and appreciated the organisers, noting significant improvements compared to previous years.
He urged stall owners to ensure quality food and service, leaving no reason for complaints.
He also reminded Dimapur citizens and visitors to maintain proper conduct after eating and drinking, emphasising setting a good example for tourists and international visitors.

“Let us present our best so that people take back positive impressions about the Nagas,” he said.
While acknowledging room for improvement, he called on everyone to protect the Naga community's image throughout the festivities. He highlighted that the Hornbill Festival is celebrated across districts, with Dimapur receiving special focus.

The advisor further encouraged all to promote unity and positivity, noting that the carnival showcases Naga culture, harmonious coexistence, and collective responsibility.
Earlier, invocation prayer was led by pastor of Dimapur Ao Baptish Arogo (DABA), Rev. Wati Kichu, and ADC Dimapur, Zakabo V Rotokha, delivered the welcome address.
