Dimapur records 13 dengue cases in 2025, alongside malaria and Japanese Encephalitis; health department intensifies prevention and awareness efforts.

DIMAPUR — A total of 13 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported in Dimapur area, including Niuland and Chümoukedima, from June till date this year.
Most of the cases were detected in urban areas, according to Peter Sangtam, District Vector Borne Disease Consultant (DVBDC), Dimapur.
Sangtam informed that while the number of dengue cases has increased compared to 2024, which recorded only three cases, it remains significantly lower than in 2023, when the district reported more than 2,000 cases.

The report also recorded three cases of malaria and nine cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE), with four fatalities among the JE cases in Dimapur district.
He further stated that the department has been conducting fogging drives in identified mosquito breeding areas, along with awareness campaigns on prevention and control measures, and house-to-house visits for source reduction.
Advocacy meetings on the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases have also been organised to avert potential outbreaks, he added.
