DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung group) has claimed responsibility for a pre-dawn attack on an Assam Rifles check post in Arunachal Pradesh on October 16.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the group said that a Naga Army tactical unit launched an attack on the 4 Assam Rifles check post at Hahman village, near Manmao, Changlang, on October 16. It claimed that Indian forces subsequently “sealed the area to hide their losses” and said the full extent of casualties could not be ascertained at this moment.
“For the last few months India has seized every opportunity to provoke, incite, kill and destroy the NSCN/GPRN to cause irreparable harm to the Naga National movement,” the organisation stated, adding that it remained “steadfast in our sacred mission.”

Asserting that it would continue tactical strikes “until the complete withdrawal of the occupational Indian military from our land,” the group further claimed the recent attack had inflicted “heavy casualties” on the Indian armed forces and paid tribute to its members involved in the operation.
It went on to state that the group intends to target the armed forces and its machineries including patrols, cantonments, outposts, camps and bunkers, “anytime at anywhere.”
The group also congratulated the ULFA-I for an alleged attack on the 19th Grenadiers at Kakopathar, Tinsukia district, Assam, which it said, occurred at 12.30 am on October 17.
