A total of 127 persons tested HIV positive in Nagaland between April and December 2025, with 99.2% initiated on treatment, the health department report stated.

KOHIMA — A total of 127 persons tested positive for HIV in Nagaland out of 9,761 individuals screened between April and December 2025, with 126, or 99.2%, initiated on treatment, according to the Department of Health and Family Welfare’s annual administrative report 2025–26.
During the same period, 9,761 individuals were also tested for syphilis, of whom 40 were found reactive and provided treatment.
The report stated that the cumulative number of People Living with HIV&AIDS (PLHAs) registered for HIV care in the state stands at 30,640, including adults, children and transgender persons. This includes 15,075 males, 13,981 females, 23 transgender persons, 781 male children and 780 female children.
Of these, 16,190 patients are currently on active care, comprising 7,659 males, 7,640 females, 12 transgender persons, 431 male children and 448 female children.
The cumulative number of patients who have ever started antiretroviral therapy (ART) is 25,296, including 12,524 males, 11,586 females, 19 transgender persons, 591 male children and 576 female children.

Since the beginning of the programme, 3,947 patients have died, including 2,199 males, 1,598 females, six transgender persons, 81 male children and 63 female children.
The number of patients alive and on ART at the end of the reporting period stands at 16,132, comprising 7,634 males, 7,634 females, 12 transgender persons, 426 male children and 446 female children.
The report further stated that 65 patients have stopped treatment, including 26 males, 32 females, five male children and two female children. A total of 634 patients have opted out of the programme.
In addition, 32 patients were transferred out during the reporting period, while 2,901 were categorised as ‘lost to follow-up.’ The number of patients who missed treatment during the period stood at 862.
