  • KOHIMA — Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton on Tuesday said that 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has laid a strong foundation for India's future and redefined governance.

  • Addressing a press conference at the BJP head office in Kohima, the deputy CM said this period has become a golden era of ‘Sankalp Ki Siddhi’ for a ‘Developed’ and ‘Self-reliant’ India, shaped by Modi’s commitment to 140 crore citizens.

  • Patton noted that the transformation in governance over the last 11 years cannot be summed up easily, describing it as a shift from corruption and appeasement to performance, innovation, and development.

  • He credited Modi’s leadership for bringing a participative, accountable, and reform-oriented government, and said governance today is defined by service and inclusivity. Citing schemes such as Direct Benefit Transfers, Ayushman Bharat, and Make in India, he underlined how beneficiaries now receive aids directly.

  • Highlighting the impact of decisive steps like the abrogation of Article 370, abolition of Triple Talaq, and the implementation of GST, the deputy CM said that bold decisions have now become the new normal.

  • Modi’s vision has elevated India's global stature through a robust foreign policy and initiatives like Operation Sindoor, showcasing national strength and self-reliance in defense, he said.

  • He said over 270 million people have been lifted out of poverty under Modi’s leadership and noted the focus on empowering the poor through various welfare schemes like the Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Ujjwala Yojana.

  • He described the philosophy of ‘Heritage and Development’ as one that balances cultural preservation with modernisation, emphasising the empowerment of women and India's growing recognition in Ayurveda and Yoga.

  • He further maintained that ‘Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai’ has become a reality, where politics prioritises delivery over promises.

  • “Modi's 11-year tenure marks a transformation from darkness to light, corruption to good governance, and despair to hope,” Patton added

  • Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, who also addressed the press conference, said the Modi government remains dedicated to building a developed India.

  • Over the past 11 years, he said, service has become a commitment, good governance a culture, and national security a top priority. This, he added, defines the ‘New India’ that has gained the trust of the world.

  • Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has embarked on a new developmental journey during the Amrit Kaal, focusing on service, welfare, and inclusivity, the minister said.

  • India’s global evacuation missions—Operation Ganga, Devi Shakti, and Vande Bharat—reflect its commitment to citizen safety.

  • The government has also addressed internal challenges, such as reducing Naxal-related violence by 70%, and implemented transparent systems like the GeM portal and Direct Benefit Transfers, which have transferred INR 44 lakh crore directly to beneficiaries, helping lift 25 crore people out of poverty, Along said.

  • The minister also mentioned that on the economic front, India is poised to become the fourth-largest economy, with record digital transactions (INR 24 lakh crore in 2024), and a rise in UPI usage.

  • Welfare initiatives such as the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (free grains for 81 crore people), PM Awas Yojana (4 crore houses), Jal Jeevan Mission, and Krishi Sinchayee Yojana are transforming rural lives. Environmental goals are on track, with record afforestation, COP21 targets met ahead of schedule, and growing renewable capacity, he added.

  • On cultural heritage, he highlighted the abrogation of Article 370, Ram Mandir, and other landmark projects.

  • The minister further stated that Modi-led government brought education reforms such as new IITs and IIMs, while over 1.6 crore youth were trained under PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana. India’s startup ecosystem now ranks third globally.

  • For the Northeast, over 3,600 projects worth INR 44,859 crore were approved, insurgency reduced, and connectivity boosted with greenfield airports and Asia's largest cancer care network in Assam. An INR 4.3 lakh crore investment secured during the Rising North East Investors Summit 2023 signifies a major regional growth leap, he added.

  • Shilukaba Longchar, BJP Nagaland State Secretary for BJP Nagaland and convener for Viksit Bharat ka Amrit Kaal, highlighted ongoing activities and upcoming programmes, with celebrations continuing until August 15, 2025.

  • Following the press conference, the Dy. CM and other dignitaries also visited the exhibition area that highlighted the various achievements and activities of the PM Modi-led government in 11 years.
