DIMAPUR — The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has submitted a list of 109 alleged “illegal appointees” to the Nagaland government, demanding their termination within 45 days.
In a representation to the chief secretary, the federation alleged that the appointments were made across 16 government departments without advertisement, bypassing established recruitment bodies such as the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) and the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).
It claimed that the appointments violated due process and undermined principles of merit-based recruitment, transparency and fairness in public service employment.

“These actions hinder the aspirations of thousands of educated and deserving Naga youths awaiting fair opportunities,” the federation stated.
According to the submission, the appointments—made between 2018 and 2023—include posts in departments such as Nagaland State Transport, Public Health Engineering, Nagaland Public Works Department, Agriculture, Forest, and others.

The federation stated many of the posts involved contractual, ad hoc and temporary engagements that were later regularised without following proper procedures.
It urged the government to take “decisive and immediate action” and stated that failure to address the issue within the stipulated timeframe could prompt further steps.
