  • DIMAPUR — The Zeliangrong Youth Organisation Nagaland (ZYON) has announced a one-month suspension of its ongoing agitation related to the Pimla murder case, following a crucial meeting with the Commissioner of Nagaland on Monday.

  • The meeting, held in Kohima, included representatives from the Zeliangrong Students' Union Nagaland, Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation Nagaland, and Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland, as well as the deputy commissioners of Chümoukedima and Peren districts.

  • According to R John Zeliang, the president of ZYON, government representatives requested a one-month period to thoroughly investigate and resolve the case during the two-hour discussion.

  • After deliberations, the ZYON agreed to temporarily halt the agitation until May 28, giving the department concerned time to finalise the forensic report and prepare the necessary charge sheet for court submission.

  • The authorities explained that additional time is crucial for gathering sufficient evidence to ensure an accurate charge sheet is filed.

  • Zeliang emphasised that this suspension is conditional. "If justice is not served within this one-month timeframe, we will no longer hold back, and we cannot guarantee what kind of situation might arise thereafter," he warned.

  • Currently, five suspects, including the victim's husband, remain in custody.

  • During the meeting, discussions also touched upon the potential for compensation for the victim’s child, though Zeliang clarified that any decision regarding compensation would ultimately depend on the court's judgement.
