ZWU observes foundation day

EMN Tamenglong, March 15 The 20th Foundation of Zeliangrong Women Union (ZWU), Tamenglong zone, was held at Zeliangrong House, Apollo Bazaar, Tamenglong, in a simple programme. The programme was attended SP Athui, chairman of Zeliangrong Union, Tamengong zone; Hukamang Gangmei, president of Chairmen Association Tamengong; Hubuiyang, former Zeliangrong Union, Tamenglong; and chairmen from villages/ward. Lungniliu Gangmei, president Zeliangrong Women Union Assam Manipur & Nagaland; Sarah Ngaomei, Co-convener Zeliangrong Women Union Tamenglong zone; SP Athui, chairman Zeliangrong Union Tamenglong zone shared the dais. Speaking on the occasion, Lungniliu Gangmei, president of Zeliangrong Women Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) acknowledged the efforts of Zeliangrong Women Union. She said women union work ceaselessly event in time of conflict situation. She said Zeliangrong Women Union Tamenglong district is divided into four zones including Zeliangrong Tamenglong zone, Tamei zone, Nungba zone and Tousem zone. Tamenglong zone is actively working for the welfare of people. She also mentioned that in Zeliangrong society, leaders are like “testpata leave,” a spice mostly used in curry but throw it away before eaten by people. She said once a person is elected as leader, he/ she always a leader even after retirement. SP Athui, chairman of Zeliangrong Union Tamenglong zone, said Zeliangrong Women Union is the strongest union and mostly working for the welfare of the people. He said women played a major role in the society even in times crises. As women leader, she needed to work and cooperate with different organisation’s leaders and above all she should be dutiful at home.
