KOHIMA — The 63rd
annual sports meet of Zhadima Village Youth and Sports Organisation (ZVYSO)
commenced on Tuesday at Zhadima Sports Complex.
The first day of the event witnessed a display of
athleticism, featuring competitive events such as races, jumps, and throws. The
second day of the five-day event will begin with the re-introduction of women's
football event.
The inaugural day also featured a football exhibition match
between ZVYSO and Zhadima Students' Union. The inaugural ceremony was graced by
, Advisor to the chief minister and Chairman of Nagaland
Khadi and Village Industries Board, as the chief guest.
In his address, Dr. Keditsu applauded the people of Zhadima
for their enduring unity and highlighted the sports meet as a key contributor
to fostering harmony within the community.
He emphasised the importance of the event in creating
opportunities for budding sportspersons and instilling a sense of respect and
pride among the villagers.
Commending Zhadima for its sports facilities, Keditsu said
that the village had one of the best sports infrastructures in the Northern
Angami-II area. He, however, stressed the need for the community to reflect on
whether they were making the best use of these resources.
During the event, the ZVYSO Presidential Award was presented
to Visielie Sanchu, while the ZVYSO Lifetime Achievement Award went to Zakienei
Khoubve.
